If the unfortunate happens and the relationship between a South African citizen or permanent residency holder ends while the foreigner is residing on a life partner permit, this permit becomes null and void and the foreigner must seek assistance as soon as possible to find another solution with regards to a different permit in order to continue to reside in South Africa.
