How long does South African permanent residency take to be processed?

The Department of Home Affairs indicates on their website that permanent residency applications should take approximately 30 days to be finalised.  But unfortunately, due to the limited staff and increased amount of applications submitted every month from around the country (and abroad), these applications are taking approximately 6 – 24 months to be finalised by the Head Office in Pretoria.

As a third party (Intergate Immigration), is not permitted to guarantee any timescales regarding any processes that the Department are the decision makers in (i.e. permanent residence processing times).

Intergate Immigration boasts 7 Registered Immigration Practitioners, who are in regular contact with the Department of Home Affairs and have built a strong relationship with the Department.
