What is a bank guarantee when purchasing property in South Africa?
If you are purchasing property in South Africa, the transferring attorney will normally require a guarantee for the balance of the purchase price. This guarantee can be in the form of a bond / loan that has been approved in the name of the purchaser, or if the purchaser is paying cash for the property it needs to be a guarantee from a bank or an attorney stating that the money is available and will be paid over on transfer of the property.
