At what age must my child start school in South Africa?
Information on the age you need to be to go to school in South Africa
A child needs to be 5 years old, turning 6 by the 30th June in order to enrol in Grade 1. However if you feel that your child is not ready for Grade 1, you can wait another year before enrolling your child. Many schools do a readiness test to see if your child is ready to be admitted into Grade 1 and to help you make the correct decision.
