Work Permits
How long is a South African work permit valid for?
As there are four types of South African work permit categories, the validation of each particular work permit varies.
1. General Work permit – this permit can be issued for a period of 1 – 5 years, this is done with the Department of Home Affair’s discretion.
2. Quota Work permit – these permits are issued by the Department for a period of 3 - 5 years.
3. Exceptional Skills – this work permit can be issued for a period of 1 – 5 years, with the Department discretion concerning the exceptional skills.
4. Intra-Company Transfer permits – these permits are only issued for a maximum period of 2 years by the Department.
